Adjustments to the IAEA’s surveillance and inspection regime are the most recent retaliatory measures Iran has followed in reaction to the withdrawal of US President Donald Trump’s 2018 agreement.
Iran showed that it had begun implementing new restrictions on inspections through the UN nuclear control body on Tuesday after the United States failed to comply with economic sanctions before the weekend.
The interim arrangements agreed at the talks in Tehran on Sunday mean that the International Atomic Energy Agency will “fly blindly” as “political discussions” continue on the reinstatement of a 2015 agreement between Tehran and the primary powers, director Rafael Grossi said. .
But while praising Grossi’s last-minute diplomacy, Washington called on Tehran to “fully respect its nuclear verification and non-proliferation commitments” as a component of the agreement while the talks are taking place.
Adjustments to the IAEA’s surveillance and inspection regime, which were ordered through the Conservative-dominated Iranian parliament last year, are the latest in a series of retaliatory measures that Iran has followed in reaction to the withdrawal of US President Donald Trump’s 2018 agreement.
“The implementation of the law began this morning,” Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told the official IRNA news agency.
Recordings of the surveillance apparatus that the IAEA has installed on Iranian nuclear sites to verify compliance will now be kept through Tehran until President Joe Biden lifts the crippling sanctions imposed through Trump.
“Voluntary transparency measures” are also suspended, which add instant site inspections to normal inspection.
Zarif said the adjustments would have no primary effect on the paintings of IAEA inspectors.
“The cru s crun of this agreement is that the knowledge recorded in our nuclear array program . . . will be stored and transmitted to the IAEA,” said the high-ranking Iranian diplomat.
Knowledge “had never been provided to the IAEA in real time, but it had been transmitted or weekly,” he said.
However, if the talks on the US were to be over the middle of the world, it was not a problem. But it’s not the first time They’re going back to the nuclear deal, that’s going to change. Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization said that, under the new law, if US sanctions are not yet lifted, the US will not be lifted. But it’s not the first time After three months, it’ll start to decrease, erase the records.
If sanctions “are lifted completely in the next 3 months,” knowledge will be “destroyed forever,” he said.
Biden has indicated that it is in a position to reactivate the nuclear deal, but insists that Iran return to all its nuclear commitments first. Tehran asks Washington to take the first step in eliminating sanctions.
Biden’s leadership has said it is ready to sign eu-led negotiations with Iran in search of compromise.
